I do so love your writings! I often giggle in camaraderie at your thoughts and sighs of our age and art. I find myself more like an onion these days, unraveling the layers to get back to that core I know is there, which waited on the world to change. I’ll be fully retired at some point this year. I need structure or else I just wander too much! Thank you for your fantastic musings and writing. It always makes my day!👏🏾❤️🙌🏾
Thank you for your thoughts and supportive words ! I am certain you will love the expansive gift of time you will experience in the near future Indigene !
Love your drawings and your day to day thought sharing. I would be lost without my planner and I feel panicky if I do t have some sort of plan for the day. I really want to get up earlier in the morning (7-7.30am is my usual time) I feel like I already lost precious hours. Have a magical Sunday x
You really captured the juncos beautifully and what a rescue! I commend you on getting back to the gym! That is really one place that I cannot bring myself to go to anymore, I can hardly get out for a walk when the weather dips to -10C as my toes freeze up immediately. I am waiting for the slightly milder winter days to come back so I can resume my daily walks! I do enjoy reading your writings Heather.
Hi Patti..Going to the gym was definitely not my heart's desire lol but living here with icy roads ,the chill, and pathetically slow dog walking led me to the decision to try something else . I definitely prefer walking outdoors but I am seeing /feeling results with my small routine.
It always inspires, comforts and makes me want to respond. I too feel the winter blessings surround, however I am jealous of your bird sightings. Our chickadees have gone into the bush for some warmth. I sit in the wee early hours also, watching the plough trundle by in a cloud of lights and comforting sound. I thumb threw my Thomson book with my coffee wondering if I can incorporate some of his magical colour schemes into my palette. Abstractly jabbing them in between some of the branches. Trudging threw January with our dog in the squalls brings to mind the farmers dutifully tending to their frozen water pipes, or assisting in a birthing of calf, while trying to keep warm. My cozy fire will soon need another log.
So nice to know you feel this way about my posts Elaine ..You have a similar fond appreciation for our beautiful natural winter world ..I love how you weave your surroundings into your art !
What a wonderful post, newsletter. I'm not sure what to call them? I loved reading it and can relate to much of what you say. I am a late 50+ year old artist. I am finally accepting my energy levels are often depleted and I am better to go with it, than fight it. I love that you have joined the gym and it's increased your energy. You have made me think!
Your drawing if you rescuing the birds is wonderful! I am a bird lover and always chasing next doors cats away.
Everything you say rings true! I try to get in2 or 3 aquafit classes a week. I find January very dull especially with the weather. Fortunately the sun is out today but the temperature is a cold warning. Oh well back to the studio
Yes it helps doesn't' it? Good for you Sarah ! So many dark ..Grey toned days require a bit of a jumpstart to maintain energy ..and spirit! I hope you are able to create many wonderful collages!

I sometimes wish my cat would not wake me at 5 am but alas we are both creatures of habit it seems!

Thank you Susan ! Energy is a strange ever fluctuating thing isn't it ?
It is! It gets more allusive as I get older!
