Vicariously, you just took me along on your various outings... sigh... and thank you Heather. You continue to inspire me to create, as I read and see what you create. <3
Love solitary time! My local pool is always busy( I go for aquafit which is a health thing) but usually many others are there. Hopefully they don’t talk! I visited a local gallery for an art date, especially as they were showing collage artists. I really wasn’t thrilled with the work but it was good to be out.
Health things like aqua fit are great also ! Something you do for yourself and your well being ! Getting yourself out to art shows is also a treat - it’s aligned so nicely with your work as an artist
I love your Alex's so much! I'm a big fan of taking myself on Artist Dates, especially since I joined the zoo last year. It's so dreamy to just wander around and soak in so much inspiration!
I have exhausted the art group options in my local town -- too cliquey and chitchatty. Tomorrow I will join a plein air group session for the first time.
Sorry I missed this Jo .. I enjoyed stepping out of my community for a day and try to seek out these sorts of experiences to keep things interesting and vibrant ! As for cliques - I hear you . My practise has always been if I can’t find my sort of people in “ an organized group “ I try to create my own . I hope you keep searching ! Let us know how it goes with the plein air group !
I get stuck in the thought that I am not good enough to be hanging out with other artists. I find I am adept at many craft forms but “creating art” terrifies me
Ah Debra! I think I am becoming more sensitized to that mindset that other creatives experience as time goes on. you are not alone!I believe sometimes "art" has been classically (and unfortunately) considered a loftier practise than craft making -although in my opinion we are all makers and artists and or artisans . I think this notion gets in the way for a lot of creative people (artists) as it seems to be up on a peak as some high standard to aspire to .. some of those earlier perfectionist messages we received when younger haven't help to spark confidence in making art and considering oneself an artist. My husband is just starting to learn to draw (at almost 70) and even though he is easily discouraged I - am egging him on to keep drawing ..he is starting to love it when we get past the "I have never been an artist part"or this looks "childish "parts!
Thanks for your words ..Please hang out with us! You are so welcome to be here!
