Interesting question! I have been trying to work out who I am as an artist. This does interfere with creating! But why do I do what I do? Huge question, but I am thinking I do it because I like what I do. It makes me happy! Is that just too lame?

Hi Sarah such a great response to my query! It prompts an even larger question doesn't it . if making art makes your heart sing then I feel you have figured it out . I think there have been too many expectations and lofty attributes given to the "artist' over time .-All of this ends up inhibiting creative people. Often the questions posed by others sometimes contribute to feelings of inadequacy or self doubt such as "what gallery are you showing in ..or how much do you earn with your art ?:.. There is this funny thought ,belief system that you can only be an artist if you fit into this narrow definition. In these times i think we can be a bit radical. We can own our own way of making art -for whatever reasons bring us joy. My thoughts!
