Hello Ageless Artists,
In reflection of 2024 I want to express my gratitude for your special attention this past year.
You have read my newsletters in long form and some of you have commented and added your voice to the conversation. It’s all been quite rewarding for me as an artist and writer.
I believe many of us are weary of flashy in your face content, and endless parade of photos filling our heads. With the glut of information tossed at us it feels quite satisfying to know there are still people who like to read and absorb a slower paced form of communication! This is one of so many reasons I am grateful for this space on the busy internet to reach out to you and tell my stories differently.
It has been affirming that little voices matter , and that we matter just as much with age and time behind us. . In a time of my life when I perceive my visibility has dimmed you have lit a lantern of interest in what I have to say -This means so much!
When I started writing here it was a nudge that propelled me to do more than just post my art and art promotions on social media . I reflected on irregular newsletters I had written and communities fostered via a Facebook class group ..and years ago blogs touching on elements of my rural life .Some of you may have taken my early online classes (filmed with my ipad!) and others have shown support in many art initiatives I have proposed over time. I have been most fortunate to accomplish much over the past 20 or so years and am touched that many of you have my art on your walls, in your collections.
Foremost in my intention here is to touch those of you who like myself are making our way through our days with this identity as “a senior” “elder” “old person”and perhaps want to shake off these labels -hence Ageless Artist.
I hope to convey through my own actions and ventures that there is so much more we can contribute to the world through our creativity. That our artist selves are still valid and viable -and a source of comfort to ourselves -and others. That we can grow our community. You can continue to make-and sell your art .
Thank you for sticking with me.
So much more to come!
Cheers, Heather
